14 DEADLY BIBLICAL CONSEQUENCES OF SEXUAL SIN

“Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18.

Have you ever wondered why the Scripture strongly advices that we flee from sexual immorality; in spite of the fact that we feel it’s something that is pleasurable? Here are 14 deadly and unavoidable consequences of sexual sin you ought to consider before you give in to that sexual pressure.

1.     Problems and troubles are transferred

Sexual immorality opens the door for you to partake in the problems of the person you are involved with. It could be physical problem like in the case of sicknesses and diseases or it can be spiritual problem. Some people have unexplainable challenges which came as a result of illicit sexual activities. This is because the two become one flesh, one flesh; sharing the same problem.

Physical and spiritual problems are shared through sexual immorality.

“There’s more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, “The two become one.”
 1 Corinthians 6:16 MSG

2.     Demons are transferred

There are many people that are possessed with evil spirit. When you sleep with them, you open the door for this evil spirit to come into your life. Once they come, they begin to perform their destructive operations in your life.

“But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” 1 Corinthians 6:17.

Likewise, he that is joined unto the devil’s agent becomes one spirit with the person who is an agent of the devil.

3.     Destinies are ruined and Dreams are shattered

“Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power: Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.” Genesis 49:3-4.
In Genesis 49:3-4, Reuben, the first son of Israel lost his destiny because of sexual sin. Samson’s destiny was truncated because of this sin also. Sexual immorality does truncate ones destiny.

4.     Diseases and sicknesses are transferred

Sexually transmitted infection is a major consequence of sexual sin that is affecting our world today. Diseases like AIDS, Syphilis, Gonorrhoea, Genital herpes, Chlamydia, Trichomoniasis, Hepatitis B and many more, are part of the repercussions of sexual sin. Don’t be deceived, these diseases and infections are still at large in our world.

“…but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.”
1 Corinthians 6:18b NIV.

5.     Sexual sin takes away your spiritual covering

Every child of God has a spiritual covering over his or her life. This covering is against every attack of the devil. Sexual sin is one sure sin that can take away this spiritual covering, thereby, making the victim vulnerable. It opens the door for every form of afflictions. These afflictions can come through dreams, nightmare, sickness, and even physical. These afflictions can manifest in form of setback, limitation, demotion, sickness, dejection, demonic torment, depression and many other ways.

“Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.” 1 Corinthians 10:8.

6.     Bondage and satanic soul-tied

Sexual sin puts one in bondage of the devil and the person he or she is involved with. Many people who are victim of this are trying to break free from such bondage and soul-tied with the person they are involved with but they can’t. These bonds and soul-tied are beyond what you can just ignore after committing this act and they are not something that can be easily broken.

“Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.” Proverbs 6:5.

7.     It leads to being a slave to more sexual sin

Why is it that people who fall into this sin keep falling the more into it? It is because they’ve become slave to this sin during the first attempt. It is better not to fall into it than falling and trying to get out.

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” Romans 6:16.

It takes God’s grace and a strong will to break free from this bondage.

8.     It brings God’s wrath

It important to note that God killed some Israelites for committing sexual immorality on their way to the Promised Land as recorded in Numbers 25:1-11. Sexual immorality stirs up God’s anger. The people of Sodom and Gomorrah experienced God’s anger because of this. Many people of our days are under God’s wrath because of sexual immorality, but most of them are not even aware.

“Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.” 1 Corinthians 10:8.

It’s a fearful thing to experience God’s wrath. You can’t prosper when you are under God’s wrath.

9.     It gives the devil the legal ground to operate

Sin is the domain of the devil, and sexual sin gives the devil every legal right to operate in your life. That is why you see that many victims of this sin always experience disgrace, shame, inferiority complex, depression and bitterness while some contemplate suicide.

Sexual sin is a sin against your own body; giving the devil right to you via your body.“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”
1 Corinthians 6:19.

When you defile your body, the Holy Spirit leaves and the evil spirits take over.

10.          Personality is changed

Sexual sin causes a change of personality for evil, rebellious, disobedient, poor and laziness.

“For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.” Proverbs 6:26.

Some women suddenly realized that their husband is developing another kind of character because of extra marital affairs. Have you realized how a young teenage who was once humble and respectful suddenly changes to become one that is arrogant to elders, and without regards to those that might be of help to him? What do you think is the cause of such changes? In most cases the fellow is a victim of sexual sin.

11.          It affects the Spirit, Soul and Body of a man

David repented of his sexual sin with Bathsheba and prayed: “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalms 51:10.

And Paul wrote; “he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.”  1 Corinthians 6:18b.

Furthermore, Proverbs 6:32 states: “But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.”

So, you see that this sin affects the whole personality of a man. No aspect is left untouched. The body gets contaminated with sexual diseases. Guilt is attached to the soul, while the spirit on the other hand is cut-off from having fellowship with God’s Spirit.

12.          It’s a matter of life and death

The book of Proverbs gives a vivid picture of a young foolish man who follows a harlot sheepishly not knowing that it would cost his life.

“All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose till an arrow pierces his live, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life.Proverbs 7:22-23.

If an individual knows that what he is doing would cost him his life; if he is wise, he would retrace his steps. The issue of sexual immorality is beyond temporal pleasure; it’s a matter of life and death.

13.           It makes one a big loser

“Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger; And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,” Proverbs 5:10-11.

One of the lies the devil will want you to believe is that you are the one gaining when you commit sexual immorality. The supposed gain from sexual immorality is only temporal and short-lived. In reality, you are losing, because, through the illicit sexual activity, you are giving the devil access to your life to perform his primary duty of killing, stealing and destroying.

Just by a few minutes of sexual pleasure, man losses what it took years of earnest prayer, fasting, sacrifice and waiting to obtain from God. As it is usually said, “it is more difficult to build than to destroy”, so it is with sexual immorality. Through the act of fornication or adultery an individual destroys what it took years for him or her to build, making the person a great loser. King David in experienced such lose because of his illicit relationship with Bathsheba. Sexual immorality opens the door for the devil to come and destroy God’s blessings in a life.

14.          Guilt and Self-condemnation

Except when a person is given over to a reprobate mind; whenever a man or woman indulges in this sin, it’s brings guilt and self-condemnation. Guilt and self-condemnation leads to inferiority complex before God and man. Depression is not also far from such a fellow.

“For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.” Psalms 51:3.

You can’t trickily steal from the devil and not get burnt.

It’s of importance to note that the consequences of sexual sins are not limited only to the above 14 points mentioned.

7 KEYS TO SPIRITUAL GROWTH

By Gavin Aleogho

Are you tired of seeing your spiritual life fluctuate up and down with no steady growth? Have you tried your best to see that you continuously experience a glow in your Christian life but to no avail?

After giving your life to Jesus Christ, your spiritual growth is largely depending on you as a person. Your sincere desire for growth and the decision you make which is solely based on the amount of truth you are exposed to, both have a way of accelerating your growth.

Mind you, I’m not talking about the acts that will make you look religious. I’m talking about how you can experience a stress-free Christian growth while you are enjoying good relationship with everyone that is in your sphere of life.

I will be pointing your attention to seven spiritual exercises which are Scripture based and are guaranteed to help you experience a glow in your spiritual life continuously.

1.                 The Word of God.
“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.” Acts 20:32.

“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” 1 Peter 2:2.

One of the first and major requirements for spiritual growth is the Word of God, the Bible. If you must experience growth in your Christian walk, you must seek to know God the more through His revealed Word. You can’t shift this responsibility to your Pastors or on your Bible Teachers. They surely have a part to play, but the sole responsibility of the application of the Word of God rests on you.

You have to know the Word for yourself. Take out time to study the Bible for yourself. Don’t neglect to read Spirit Inspired Books. Get messages and listen to them.

Mind you, you can’t outgrow studying the Bible. You have to cultivate the attitude of studying, meditating and applying the Word of God if you must see growth.

2.                 Fasting
“As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.”Acts 13:2.

Fasting is a spiritual exercise that helps to stretch your spirit man beyond its comfort zone. There are some heights you won’t attend spiritually without fasting. Fasting actually humbles you; it brings your flesh under subjection, because the real enemy to your spiritual growth is your flesh. Fasting is the cure to handling your flesh.

When you fast, you find it difficult to talk anyhow. Fasting reduces your bodily or physical sensitivity to issues that does not contribute to your spiritual growth.

If you can fast at least once a week from; you will see a remarkable growth in your spiritual life.

3.                 Evangelizing
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…” Romans 1:16.

There is a height you will never achieve if you don’t consciously become a witness of Christ. Do you want to see greater manifestation of God’s gift in your life? Do you want God to work miracles through your hands? Do you want to live life beyond the ordinary Christian life? Then you must go out and preach. I always experience a different dimension of God’s grace when I share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You have to learn to do evangelism beyond the conventional way. Let evangelising or witnessing be part of your life. Let it be part of every of your conversation. Then you will continuously experience greater dimension of God’s grace upon your spirit.

4.                 Prayer
“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,” Jude 20

Prayer is an act that shows your dependency on God. But more especially, prayer is actually the meeting place between God and man. There can’t be any spiritual growth without effective prayer life. When you remove prayer (God-dependent), you only have futile (self-dependent) activity.

I must state that not all kinds of prayers aids in achieving spiritual growth. When you are engulfed with praying for just material needs, it will never help you grow spiritually. I believe praying for bread and butter is for babes in Christ. If you want to achieve spiritual growth in your prayer life, then you must step up your prayer life to praying in the Spirit, which is praying in tongues. Prayer of intersection also helps your spiritual growth, as well as praying for God’s will to be done.

5.                 Fellowship
The gathering of brethren together in fellowship is beyond just the activities that you can see with your natural eyes. It is a spiritual ceremony. What many people see or hear is just the message, songs, announcement and the rest. But in reality, it is beyond those; it’s a spiritual business. There is a spiritual impartation that goes on in such a meeting. There is refreshing of the spirit man when you come in fellowship with other believers which you might never get when you are in isolated or when you avoid fellowship.

“…the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord” Acts 3:19b.

Furthermore, you should be mindful of the kind of fellowship (church) you attend because it has a way of affecting your spiritual growth. Is your church making you more carnal? Do you get fired up to serve God the more after your church meetings? The fellowship (church) you attend should be one that after attending you should feel a great urge to get closer to God.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!...for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” Psalms 133:1, 3b.

6.                 Giving and Rendering of Service
“and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35b.

Giving for a child of God is not just for the purpose of gain, it is actually an expression of the regenerated man. In giving you discover purpose. Giving in this contest is beyond cash or material possession. It includes but not limited to abstract things like your time, gifts, knowledge, energy, skills, services etc. All gears towards the Kingdom business.

You can’t really experience growth when you live for yourself. You have to express it through service in the house of God and service to humanity. You can’t just be getting (receiving everything from others) and expect to increase spiritually. You can’t just be receiving sermon upon sermon without finding a way of giving it out. The spiritual gift you are given is not for yourself but for others.

Do you want to experience growth…start giving, start serving, start helping, and start impacting others with what you have.

7.                 Having a Spiritual Mentor or Role Model

“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”  Proverbs 27:17.

Having someone that you are accountable to have a lot of benefits in your Christian race. You can’t be a lone ranger when it comes to your spiritual growth, the Scripture says iron sharpens iron. When you have someone that you are accountable to, it has a way of helping you. Furthermore, when you know that someone is watching over you, this also has a way of putting you in check.

How blessed are you when you have someone who can tell it to your face that you are heading the wrong direction. Or that will tell you that you should improve on your prayer life or take a step that will help you?
